With years of experience, an unshakable spirit, and precise preparation, MMA fighter Vladislav Kunchev—nicknamed “C-4” for his explosive style—will enter his next challenge in the ring, facing Brazilian Flavio Pina in the -80 kg category under KWU OPEN rules at SENSHI. At 35, the Bulgarian fighter has achieved notable success across multiple disciplines—MMA, grappling, and boxing. His upcoming bout marks his SENSHI debut, set for May 17 at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv during SENSHI 26 Gladiators.
Kunchev has been training in martial arts since 2005, with mixed martial arts being his main discipline and passion. His inspiration to become a fighter came from a documentary about MMA legend Mark Kerr, focusing on his battles in a Japanese promotion. He greatly admires Khabib Nurmagomedov, describing him as humble, disciplined, and—most importantly—undefeated. Kunchev says that fans’ support gives him extra energy in the heat of battle, calling it a kind of “doping.”
Expectations for his SENSHI debut are high, as he revealed in an exclusive interview for GONG.bg. Ultimately, Vladislav Kunchev promises the audience a spectacular match and a decisive knockout victory.
Can you describe a typical day of training?
My first training session is early in the morning—pull-ups and running. The second one is usually in the evening. Right now, I focus on building technique and sparring, combined with a proper diet. If I don’t get the results I want, I assign myself additional tasks to make up for what’s lacking.
How do you balance physical and mental preparation?
I set clear and specific goals so I know exactly what I need to achieve. I often analyze my results and compare them with my expectations. I build habits of consistency, strive for self-discipline, and take full responsibility for my tasks.
What’s your favorite training drill or type of exercise?
Sparring—it’s the most interesting part of training and the closest simulation of a real fight.
Do you have any hobbies or interests that might surprise your fans?
I enjoy arm wrestling and playing FIFA on PlayStation in my free time.
How do you stay motivated during tough times?
I maintain a positive mindset, focus on progress, and look for solutions rather than letting setbacks get me down.
What are your goals for the future, both in and out of the ring?
In the ring, I want to compete in more high-profile matches in major organizations. Outside of it, I plan to continue developing my coaching career, which I’ve been dedicated to for 13 years.
How do you feel about the upcoming fight on May 17, and do you have a strategy?
I’m looking forward to the bout in Plovdiv with great excitement—it’s my first appearance at SENSHI, and I’m thrilled. My strategy is to break my opponent before the final bell.
What message would you send to your opponent, Flavio Pina?
It’s going to be rough for you.
What can fans expect from you in this fight?
A knockout—no doubt about it!
