From October 24 to 26, Romania will host one of the most anticipated martial arts events of the year – the Kumite Weekend with Shihan Francisco Filho. The seminars will take place in Cluj-Napoca and are organized by Sensei Viorel Tatar, a 4th Dan black belt and a dedicated representative of Kyokushin Karate in Romania.
Leading the event will be Shihan Francisco Filho, a 7th Dan master in Kyokushin Karate and one of the sport’s most respected legends. Known for his technical mastery, power, and humility, Shihan Filho made history in 1995 by completing the 100-man kumite, one of the most grueling challenges in martial arts. Only a handful of warriors have ever achieved this feat, marking him as a symbol of endurance and true Kyokushin spirit.
His career reached its peak when he became the Heavyweight World Champion in 1997 and later the Open Weight World Champion in 1999. Beyond his titles, Shihan Filho’s legacy lies in his influence—his fighting style, discipline, and philosophy continue to inspire generations of karateka across the world.
The Kumite Weekend promises to deliver an exceptional experience, combining intense technical training, real-fight drills, and deep insights into the mindset required for high-level competition. Athletes, instructors, and martial arts enthusiasts will have the rare opportunity to learn directly from a living legend and deepen their understanding of Kyokushin’s principles of spirit, respect, and perseverance.
This event also marks another important milestone in the global development of KWU SENSHI, bringing together Kyokushin practitioners from different countries under the shared mission of promoting traditional martial values and elevating the level of full-contact karate worldwide.
