On December 6, the 29th edition of SENSHI will take place at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria. Zhulien Rikov will step into the fight gala for the second time, preparing for another major professional appearance in the arena. He is a two-time Kickboxing World Cup champion, a two-time European Cup champion, and an eight-time Bulgarian national champion.
In recent weeks, Rikov has been training twice a day and has already begun sparring. “The preparation is going according to plan, but it’s very tough. It always is — we put our health on the line,” the fighter shared on the ‘Bulgaria Sutrin’ morning show.
“My opponent was born in Morocco but lives in Spain. During the match, I’ll only be thinking about crushing him and seeing my hand raised. I don’t have a weaker side compared to his. I’m much better than him,” he said in an interview for Bulgaria ON AIR TV.
“There are about two weeks of training left, followed by the weight-cutting period. The SENSHI training camp in October was perfect for gaining experience and testing ourselves against different styles. We sparred with as many fighters as possible,” Zhulien added.
The young athlete admits that nervousness is always present — it’s impossible to enter the ring completely calm. He also shared that the crowd can both motivate and distract you, which makes mental focus in the ring extremely important.
“Competing at SENSHI means a lot to me — it’s one of the biggest fight promotions in Europe. I expect even greater support than last time; there will be a big crowd. My goal is always forward and upward,” the fighter concluded.
You can watch Zhulien Rikov live in Varna and witness his performance at SENSHI 29. Tickets for the fight gala are available at Eventim.bg.
