Just days before the SENSHI 29 fight night on December 6 at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria, we meet the fifth Bulgarian participant — Ali Yuzeir. He is the 2018 WMF Muay Thai World Champion and the 2015 European Vice Champion. So far, the kickboxer has one appearance and one victory at SENSHI 4, and he is excited to step back in front of the audience in his hometown. Tickets for the professional fight gala SENSHI 29 are still available via Eventim.bg.
“My preparation is complete — it was quite tough. I believe I am fully ready for victory. I have a plan A and a plan B,” the fighter shared in an interview for the morning show “Bulgaria Sutrin.”
Ali Yuzeir will face Austrian fighter Karim Mabrouk in the -85 kg category under KWU FULL CONTACT rules. After their bout at the WAKO World Senior Championships in Abu Dhabi this November, he knows his opponent well.
“Last week we were at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi. My first match was against him, and I managed to win with a 3:0 judges’ decision. I know his strengths and weaknesses, and he knows mine. It will definitely be a spectacular rematch. We need to stay calm, but we also shouldn’t underestimate him,” commented Yuzeir.
Speaking to the Bulgaria ON AIR team, he added that when he is in the ring, he always listens to his coach, while the crowd is barely audible.
“When you’re in the center of the ring, you have to be the one setting the pace — judges notice this positively. This week I’m keeping my form and cutting weight; the weigh-in is on Friday,” he said.
According to him, SENSHI is one of the major global organizations and a significant stepping stone for all athletes who compete there. He wished success to all Bulgarian fighters who will enter the arena on Saturday and shared that they exchanged experience through joint training sessions during the preparation process.
A video of the full interview with the Varna kickboxer is available on the official website of Bulgaria ON AIR.
