Norwegian Kyokushin Karate Organization Summer Camp 2023

The Norwegian Kyokushin summer camp held at Moi in Rogaland was a great success, with participants from all over the country coming both alone and with their families. This year’s camp had the organization’s leader, Shihan Antonio Pinero 9th Dan as head coach and also invested heavily in local coaches to help out. Participants have already reported that it was beneficial to have so many native coaches present, demonstrating the high level of expertise available within Norway.

The Norwegian instructors:
Shihan Tom Silver Erga 5. Dan
Shihan Geir Havreberg 5. Dan
Shihan Jarle Sundvår 5. Dan
Shihan Gorm Øyan 5. Dan
Sensei Johnny Reiestad 4th Dan
Sensei Geir Rune Tøge 4th Dan
Sensei Roy Svensen 4th Dan
Sensei Yilmas Zorlu 4th Dan
Senpai Jannikke Berger 2nd Dan
Senpai Elisabeth M. Varhaug 2. Dan

The program was a comprehensive mix of theory and practical sessions, including basic/kihon, fight, kata, cardio, Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. To further support the instructors in their teaching endeavors, there were separate seminars led by Sensei Johnny and Sensei Roy on how to teach combat techniques and katas. Additionally, Senpai Hans Kristian Havreberg from Havreberg Coaching gave lectures on injury prevention training.

After four training sessions throughout the day, plus an additional night session on Wednesday, everyone was feeling satisfied and ready to go home by Sunday. We hope that all of our karate family have a wonderful summer!
