22nd Budo Training Day Organized by Shihan Edi Gabathuler

On Saturday, 12th April 2025, Shihan Edi Gabathuler, an 8th DAN black belt, successfully organized the 22nd Budo Training Day in Felsberg, Switzerland. The event, a long-standing tradition in the local martial arts community, brought together karatekas from across Switzerland for an action-packed day of training.

The event’s schedule followed its usual format, offering a structured and comprehensive training program. The day began with a kihon and test combinations session from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, where participants honed their basic techniques and worked on improving their combinations in groups. After a short break, the afternoon session focused on kata, with groups practicing and refining their forms from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The day concluded with combat training and fighting, divided into two groups based on age—under 16s and over 16s—from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

A diverse group of instructors helped lead the training sessions, each bringing their expertise and experience to the participants. The instructors included:

  • Shihan Rolf Imhof, 5th DAN

  • Sensei Mirco Furger, 4th DAN

  • Sensei Dominic Frey, 3rd DAN

  • Senpai Fabio De Patre, 2nd DAN

  • Senpai Anita Klaus, 2nd DAN

  • Senpai Silvio Avvisati, 2nd DAN

  • Senpai Daniel Tovisati, 2nd DAN

  • Senpai Daniel Toppel, 2nd DAN

49 karatekas from eight different IFK Switzerland Kyokushinkai dojos participated in the event. These dojos came from various locations, including Anglikon, Chur, Ilanz, Mörschwil, Oftringen, Strengelbach, Wettingen, and Wohlen, showcasing the wide-reaching influence of the Kyokushinkai community in Switzerland.

The atmosphere throughout the day was one of dedication, focus, and camaraderie. The instructors and participants worked hard to refine their skills while building a strong sense of community within the Kyokushinkai family.

Shihan Gabathuler and the organizing team expressed their gratitude to all who attended, acknowledging the hard work, enthusiasm, and positive energy that everyone brought to the event. The 22nd Budo Training Day was a memorable and successful gathering, and the organizers are already looking forward to the next event in 2026.
