IFK Switzerland: The 21st Budo Training Day – A Thriving Celebration of Kyokushin

Kyokushin enthusiasts from across Switzerland gathered on April 13th, 2024, for the 21st Budo Training Day, meticulously organized by Shihan Eddy Gabathuler, 8th DAN. Hosted in the vibrant setting of Felsberg’s gymnasium, the event was a testament to the enduring spirit of martial arts and camaraderie.

The day’s agenda was structured to maximize learning and engagement. From 9:30 am to 11:30 am, participants delved into Kihon and test combinations, honing their fundamental techniques in group settings. Following a brief break, the focus shifted to Katas in groups from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, offering an opportunity for practitioners to refine their forms under the guidance of seasoned instructors.

As the afternoon progressed, the tempo intensified with combat training and sparring sessions from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The participants, divided into age-appropriate groups, engaged in dynamic exchanges, applying their skills in a controlled environment.

The instructional team, comprising esteemed figures such as Shihan Rolf Imhof (5th DAN) and Sensei Barbara De Patre (4th DAN), among others, provided invaluable guidance and expertise throughout the day. Their collective wisdom and passion for Kyokushin infused the event with a sense of purpose and dedication.

A total of 56 Kyokushin practitioners, representing seven IFK Switzerland Kyokushinkai Dojos from Ilanz to Chur, contributed to the vibrant atmosphere. Their presence underscored the diversity and unity within the Kyokushin community, fostering friendships and mutual respect.

Gratitude was extended to both instructors and participants for their unwavering commitment and enthusiastic participation. Their hard work and dedication ensured the success of the 21st Budo Training Day, leaving indelible memories and inspiring aspirations for future gatherings.

As the day concluded, the sentiment of “OSU” echoed through the gymnasium, encapsulating the spirit of perseverance and respect that defines the world of Kyokushin. With hopes set on the future, participants eagerly anticipate the next installment of this cherished tradition, eager to continue their journey of growth and excellence in the martial arts.
