Andy Souwer: “The SENSHI camp exceeded my expectations”

The international fight organization SENSHI held a special training camp for selected fighters, personally led by legends Albert “The Hurricane” Kraus and Andy Souwer. The camp took place from October 15 to 18 at SENSHI Gym in Varna, bringing together 32 talented fighters from various countries who competed in the 70-85 kg weight divisions.

Two-time K-1 MAX world champion and member of the KWU SENSHI Board of Directors, Andy Souwer, gave an exclusive interview for the SENSHI team, sharing his impressions of the camp and the idea behind it. The interview was first published on the combat sports media outlet Boec.bg.

“I’m really excited to be part of this camp — all the fighters are very skilled, and it’s a real pleasure for us to work with them in person. The camp exceeded my expectations,” said Souwer.

“As a former lightweight fighter, I love to work with these athletes who aren’t in the heavyweight division. Don’t get me wrong — heavyweight fighters are great, but lighter fighters bring more technique, combinations, and dynamics. Here, all the participants were personally invited and are at an exceptionally high level. That makes our work easy — they understand quickly and execute perfectly,” added the legendary Dutchman.

Souwer also emphasized the importance of such events for both the fighters’ progress and the organization’s growth: “My recommendation is to organize these camps more often. They’re valuable for us and for the participants. This way, the fighters improve more quickly and become exceptional professionals. And that’s exactly the idea behind SENSHI — not only to host gala nights and spectacular fights, but also to develop its own fighters.”
