25-28 January 2018 – Etne, Norway

Etne Kyokushin Karate Club, led by Shihan Geir Havreberg 5th Dan, invited also this year to an international Kyokushin Winter Camp in Etne – Norway. This is the 18th Winter Camp in a row in Etne.

We are proud to have established a multi-organizational arena for common Kyokushin Spirit honoring the legacy of Sosai Mas Oyama.

International guest instructors this year was Shihan Javier Lezcano 6th Dan (KWF), Sensei Pablo Estensoro 4th Dan(KWF) and Sensei Darren Stringer 4th Dan (IFK) Shihan Geir Havreberg have trough years of hard work, established a high-quality Kyokushin Winter Camp in Etne. His engagement in the Norwegian National BUDO federation, have established a better collaboration platform for Kyokushin athletes in Norway.

This year more than 170 athletes, representing 30 clubs, 4 organizations, and almost 70 black belts participated at the camp. This year’s Team of Instructors really gathered some of the absolute best Instructors available.

Shihan Javier Lezcano(ESP) have for years shared his knowledge and excellent Kyokushin wisdom at the Winter Camp in Etne. Sensei Pablo Estensoro (ESP), together with Sensei Darren Stringer(UK) brings a wealth of fighting experience and together, this great team of instructors manages to keep all athletes energized and motivated. Fight, Kihon and Kata. Different methods of training, intensity and philosophy, that is the trademark of those great instructors. All the sessions were highly appreciated by the students, and the feedback is great and we look forward to next year already.

We would also this year like to send a special thanks instructors and friends from other federations that came to Etne and trained with us; Shihan Svein Dallavara, President IFK Norway. Sensei Bjørn Willumsen, from World So-Kyokushin federation. Sensei Bo Vidar Larsen from Shinkyokushin Norway. Sensei Bjørn Solberg from Bergen Karate & Kampsport Klubb and more. Thank you, and we are looking forward to see you all again.

The camp started Thursday evening, and continued through the weekend with 3 session’s pr.day …ending with the traditional Fighting Session on Sunday. All athletes warming up together, before the kumite session starts. 1 Hour, one minute fights, free kumite – Chose a partner, OSU!! Hajime!

Black belts, with white belts, children with adults, young with old… every mix is OK, everybody learning from each other. We also had the pleasure of having three Senpai’s from Spain with us this year. Senpai Carlos, student of Sensei Pablo. Senpai Jon and Senpai Julen
from Shihan Javier’s DoJo – Gimnasio Yin-Yang. Great Karateka’s, and friends we enjoy having with us in Norway. With the repeated success of last year, we proudly conclude that this year’s Winter Camp was a success.

More than 170 athletes, close to 70 black belts, many federations. Endless meals served to hungry hard-training athletes. Let’s keep up this momentum and build strong friendships for the future.

The movement of TIME-TO-BE-UNITED has grown even stronger and more relevant in Norway during these days. We also wish to thank NKKO (Norwegian Kyokushin Karate Organization) and its board of directors, led by Branch Chief Sensei Geir Rune Tøge.

Great support and truly a great federation to be member of. Finally, and with great importanse, a big thank you to everyone that joined this extraordinary camp and contributed to build a stronger and better Kyokushin movement in Norway.
With best regards, and with Kyokushin spirit!

The legacy of Sosai Mas Oyama brings us all together, and the main slogan of the camp was TIME TO BE UNITED
